Radio One was founded in 1997. Our program format is “Great Songs…Great Memories”. Music played is targeted to adult listeners and is aimed at resonating their good “memories”. Besides music we have a very popular talkshow, Spectrum that discusses current affairs and topical issues. Our radio signal is dominant in the four major towns in Uganda; Kampala, Entebbe, Mbale and Mbarara representing 80% of Uganda’s purchasing power and 90% of vehicle traffic in Uganda. Our target audience is urban and peri-uban English-speaking adults who could be middle-income household heads/parents, commuter listeners in the heavy traffic periods and shoppers. Radio One has consistently been named one of the leading brand in Uganda by brand analysis company Superbrands East Africa, a division of Superbrands United Kingdom. In 2011, Radio One topped the list of the official rankings for Uganda, closely followed by the Sheraton Kampala Hotel, MTN Uganda and Pepsi.
